I now live in... Alumni in the world

Bologna is a welcoming world and its University a springboard: here, Alumni begin their journey, staying for a while before heading out to find their destiny and place in the world.

"Bologna has always been a part of my life that I remember for having opened my eyes on the rest of the world or at least on the rest of Europe because in Bologna I could feel the heart beating of pro-European supporters. I arrived as a firm believer in a unified Europe and I left as an activist for a unified Europe, and so I think that Bologna is for me the epitome of internationalisation... I have arranged my life on a personal, academic and professional level in Latin America, where I found a culture that still fills my bookshelves at home with books, essays and novels.”

Andrea Pesce is an Alumnus of ours with a degree in Political Science. He left Bologna for Madrid, Brussels, Africa and Guatemala. This is where he had the idea for ZeroCo2, a company that now operates in environmental and social sustainability. A network of projects covering many countries in Latin America.

"Once I had completed my university studies, I was moved by a sense of wanderlust to get to know new places, new cultures and to see how people live and work abroad. If you are an Alumnus of the Alma Mater you are held in high regard in Europe.” Advice for those who want to go abroad? “Get all-round experience. Don’t just work hard: also do as many jobs as you can. And don’t be afraid to change if you realise the road you’ve taken is not the right one for you.”

Giulia Bonetti, graduated from Bologna University with a degree in Finance. She has had several experiences abroad: in France, Spain and England. Today she is Contract Manager at the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts and lives in London. Several recognitions, including her selection by the McKinsey Institute as one of the Next Generation Women Leaders.
